SFHA's Kindness Network is open to anyone who would like to attend.
The Kindness Network is facilitated by SFHA's Member Solutions Team and is open to anyone who would like to attend. Its next meeting will take place on 25 October at 10:00. During the meeting, the network will be joined by Tommy Whitelaw, National Lead for Carers and Outreach, Alliance Scotland, who will deliver an emotive and thought-provoking session called 'You Make a Difference'.
Mr Whitelaw was a full-time carer for his late mother Joan who had Vascular Dementia, and he has engaged with thousands of carers through his ‘Tommy on Tour’ blog and as National Lead for Caring and Outreach with the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland’s Carer Voices project. In this role, he delivers frequent talks to health and social care professionals and carer organisations across Scotland, raising awareness of the impact of dementia on families and the importance of empowering carers in carrying out their difficult but vital role. This ‘You Can Make a Difference’ campaign has now reached over 247,300 people across 1450 talks, gathering 30,000 ‘What Matters to You’ pledges, WMTY personalised patient boards and many pledge trees within organisations. Tommy’s work shares the key messages from the ALLIANCE, the ‘What Matters to You?’ approach, the Intelligent Kindness movement, and Civility Saves Lives.
His ’You Make a Difference’ digital session is based on the principles of intelligent kindness and the importance of active listening across all roles and sectors. The session will empower individuals to reflect on how they can and do make a difference through their work and practice.
SFHA's Kindness Network meetings take place via Teams. If you would like to attend the session with Tommy Whitelaw, please contact nflynn@sfha.co.uk to be added to the mailing list.
