It’s been great to see many faces virtually and in-person at our recent digital webinar and also the SFHA Finance Conference. There has been one IT topic that has been mentioned several times at both events, “Housing Management Systems,” because of recent price increases from suppliers it has caused many housing associations to reconsider their options.
With the current cost of living crisis, it will only become more important that large scale expenses for core housing products be fully analysed, and quality benchmarked to understand their worth - are they doing what they should? Are they too expensive? Do they lack future proofing? Are they secure?
There are so many questions, that, up until this point have only been answered on an individual organisation by organisation basis.
Complexity of these systems, procurement, costs, suppliers, customer service, adoption, and way we use them seems to vary so much across our sector. I hope that SFHA can have a role to bring us all together to discuss and share our knowledge about housing management systems so we can all get the best return in investment out of a critical line of business system.
