Manor Estates Housing Association’s Chair, Rachel Hutton, recently launched the association’s new Community Fund at its AGM on 7 September.
The fund was inspired by tenant and former board member Doug McEwan, who sadly passed away in 2020. Mr McEwan was a loyal and vocal supporter of the association and gave his time to support its work. The association said it wanted to do something that would "harness and reflect his spirit" and decided to create a fund that would give something back to the communities that the association is active in.
The fund is available to constituted groups and groups that can demonstrate that they are working towards approving a constitution. Groups can apply for awards of up to £250 per annum that will assist them in delivering activities that promote the values of the association’s strategic plan.
Claire Ironside, CEO said: “This is the first time that the association has created such a fund to directly enable groups across in the city, and it reflects our emphasis towards even more customer engagement in the areas that we work in.”
