As part of the Scottish Government’s recent Programme for Government, the First Minister outlined that the upcoming Housing Bill would include a long-term system of rent controls, however, did not explicitly specify whether these would be restricted to the private rented sector (PRS). In response to this, SFHA immediately contacted Scottish Government and the Housing Minister asking for swift clarification that any controls would not impact the social sector.

We’re pleased to be able to say that the Housing Minister quickly responded and has now written to SFHA, as well as the sector as a whole, to confirm that any form of rent control will only cover the PRS.
