The Scottish Government has today confirmed that it will extend the provisions currently in place under the Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) Act for a further six months from 30 September 2023 to 31 March 2024.

The Act previously froze rents in the social sector and continues to cap rises to 3% in the private sector, as well as banning most evictions. The Act will continue under its current conditions. This represents the last of the six month extension periods allowed, meaning the legislation will expire next Spring.

The announcement came this afternoon in a written response to a government initiated question.
