The Scottish Government recently proposed reforms the rent adjudication process for private tenants, which currently includes MMR provided by RSLs.
Subject to Parliamentary approval, the temporary measures will go into effect from 1 April 2024 for one year. These reformed rent adjudication process intends to bridge the gap between the end of the cost-of-living emergency legislation rent cap measures and the introduction of long-term rent controls and new rights for tenants in an upcoming Housing Bill and has implications for members providing MMR.
