Conflict resolution and mediation trainers, the Scottish Community Mediation Centre, has joined SFHA as a sector associate.
The Centre is looking to build on its existing experience within the housing sector, and to offer SFHA members access to advice and training in conflict resolution and mediation.
Offering SFHA a range of training resources, the Centre has over 25 years’ experience in helping organisations develop staff skills in conflict resolution and mediation. Its training is interactive and practical and takes learners through all stages of the mediation process. It explores with learners how to handle conflict in real life and helps them develop new skills and approaches in handling conflict more constructively.
The Centre's training can be customised for each client and delivered online, in-person, or through a mixed format. To date it has trained staff from over 150 organisations, including officers from several housing associations. Its Mediation Skills course is accredited and recognised as one of the standard entry level qualifications for practising as a mediator in Scotland.
The Centre’s Manager, Liam Gale said: “We are delighted to join SFHA as a Sector Associate. Our aim is to support housing associations in building confident, skilled teams who are equipped to deal with conflict constructively and professionally. Good conflict resolution skills are essential in creating more positive working environments and stronger relationships with tenants and communities. We look forward to collaborating with SFHA and its members to promote a more thoughtful, preventative approach to conflict within the housing sector.”
By supporting SFHA, the Centre recognises the importance of providing safe, affordable and warm homes, and looks forward to helping housing associations build their skill base throughout their organisation.
