Warmworks, an organisation with a decade of experience in tackling fuel poverty across Scotland, has been appointed to deliver a new project that will make homes warmer for housing association tenants in Moray.

The Renewable Heat Project with Ark Housing Association will see 19 properties in Forres fitted with a range of energy efficiency improvements, aimed at lowering fuel poverty levels, and improving home comfort for tenants.

Energy efficiency improvements to be installed across the properties include a mix of high heat retention heaters, battery storage technology, solar PV, hot water systems, and HeatSage technology – a retrofit solution designed to effectively manage electric storage and water heaters.

Victoria Hennessy, Asset and Compliance Manager, Ark Housing Association, commented: “We are very pleased to be working on this project with Warmworks to install high-quality renewable technologies in 19 of our properties in Forres. These improvements will have such a positive impact on the quality of life of our tenants, and we are excited to get started.”

Paul McGhee, Warmworks’ Managing Director, Local Delivery Division, said: Warmworks has extensive experience of working closely with social landlords across Scotland to help them lift their tenants out of fuel poverty and decarbonise their housing stock.

“It is imperative that Scotland’s transition to net zero is open to everyone – particularly those that might need help and support to adapt to change – and we’re incredibly proud to be working with Ark to deliver warmer, more energy efficient homes and lower fuel bills for their tenants.”

Warmworks delivers a range of energy efficiency contracts across the UK, aimed at helping people to better manage their energy costs and improve the energy efficiency of their home. It has been the Managing Agent for the Scottish Government’s national fuel poverty scheme, Warmer Homes Scotland, since 2015.

Ark Housing Association owns around 500 properties across Scotland and specialises in providing care and support for those with additional needs.
