Despite its vital importance, Housing Support is often less visible, fragmented and less transparent than other parts of funding for our housing, health and social care services.
The Housing Support Enabling Unit (HSEU) has been working with the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA), the Scottish Commission for Learning Disability (SCLD), Hanover Scotland and Blackwood Homes and Care to commission and fund a piece of research which examines existing evidence about the benefits of housing support. This has resulted in a publication, "Economic benefits of Housing Support", by Prof Ken Gibb and Dr Vikki McCall. On Thursday 4 May, Profession Ken Gibb and Dr Vikki McCall will set out and discuss the findings and recommendations in a webinar.
Positive impact
As part of a webinar, Ken and Vikki will outline how effort should be made to highlight the significant positive impact of Housing Support on people's lives, alongside the important preventative public finance savings it can provide. Attention will also be given to the need to map and account for all Housing Support funding streams and partners and to assess the costs, benefits, and social value of Housing Support.
A?ims and objectives
O?ver the course of a one hour event, attendees will also hear from the funding partners in this project, with attention particularly focused around initial project aims and next steps.
T?he second half of the event will be an open Q and A, allowing attendees the chance to ask the panel burning questions on this important issue. This will be followed by small group discussion
