SFHA News – SFHA responds to Scottish Government’s proposals on retrofit assessments
SFHA has submitted a response to the Scottish Government's scoping consultation on the Heat and Energy Efficiency Technical Suitability Assessment.
The consultation proposes the introduction of a new bespoke assessment to help safeguard consumers and ensure that building owners can understand which energy efficient and clean heating measures are appropriate for their properties.
We have contributed to the response from the Existing Homes Alliance which gives broader feedback on the proposals and the potential impacts on homeowners, private landlords and the wider retrofit assessment market.
SFHA's response highlights the existing experience and processes in place in the social housing sector in relation to appraising retrofit options and making investment decisions. We have therefore called for social landlords to continue to have flexibility but support a voluntary approach to HEETSAs and the provision of additional guidance. Improvements to the Social Housing Net Zero Heat Fund, including multi-year funding and an accompanying project support unit, would also help to deliver successful project outcomes.
