Last year, SFHA facilitated an opportunity for members to host an HR student from the University of Strathclyde. The placements were successful, with a number of members hosting a student, and we will be continuing our partnership with the university and providing this opportunity for a second year.
If you'd like to learn more about the placements, on 12 October, we'll be holding a webinar which will allow you to hear from a member who hosted a student. You can also find out how your organisation can get involved.
We are also now partnering with the University of Glasgow to facilitate a similar opportunity within a different field. Students at the University of Glasgow who are undertaking a master’s degree course in adult education, community development and youth work are required to complete 480 hours of community learning and development practice. The programme offers students the opportunity to study the theoretical and practical dimensions of adult, community and youth development and equips them with the skills and knowledge they need to work alongside people in communities to initiate sustainable social change.
Hosting a student on placement allows you to strengthen your existing team and increase organisational provision as well as support the development of a project led by the student.
