It is with great pride and excitement that Partick Housing Association (PHA) announces its 50th year in social housing. PHA was established and formally registered as a housing association in October 1975, so 2025 marks its 50th Anniversary.
As PHA reaches this important milestone, it provides an opportunity to reflect on its past, and look forward to the future. PHA will be working with tenants, local partners and the wider community throughout 2025. The association will also make connections with other significant milestones, such as Glasgow’s 850th anniversary, and other housing associations across the city who share its anniversary.
PHA’s calendar of events kicked off in March and April with three FREE externally funded workshops and taster sessions including line dancing, a woodwork workshop and an art class. In a bid to combat social isolation at a difficult time of the year, PHA wanted to bring people together and introduce them to something new.
PHA’s anniversary activities, events and initiatives don’t stop there. It will be hosting events and launching initiatives throughout the year, so watch this space for updates! Its plans include:
- Launch of new 50th Anniversary logo - used throughout 2025 to mark PHA’s golden anniversary.
- Sponsorship of Active Schools (AS) programme – activities and sports equipment.
- Community Artwork Competition in local schools – Patrick of the future!
- 10-week Community Development Course, funded by PHA and delivered by the University of Glasgow. Free and open to tenants and other community members active or striving to be more active in their local community.
- Collaborative Creative Workshops in Partnership with SWG3, Elderpark HA and Linthouse HA as part of Glasgow’s 850 Clyde Chorus event.
- The BIGGER Partick Picnic, Saturday 28 June from 12-5pm in Partnership with the Annexe and Partick Community Council. A day of family fun featuring live entertainment, pop-up workshops, free community picnic, photo exhibitions and the Annexes’ infamous Partick skipping challenge!
- Walking tours for new tenants. Tours will offer a whistle stop tour of Partick, looking at its rich history, but also pointing out important amenities and services in the community.
Mark O’Mara Active Schools Coordinator said: “Active Schools have had a very successful partnership with Partick Housing Association for more than 10 years and through lots of projects this has had a really positive impact in providing physical activity opportunities and sports equipment for local School pupils. In our 20th year we're delighted to continue this partnership in Partick Housing Association's 50th!"
Jane Cowie, Project Coordinator, Annexe Communities said: “We are delighted to join forces for a Bigger Partick Picnic this year in celebration of PHA’s 50 and Glasgow’s 850 years. The event is free for all the family, everyone welcome, come along and join in the fun and get practicing for the Great Partick Skipping Challenge!”
PHA’s 50th anniversary celebrations culminate with a celebration event and community marketplace in October. Details are still being finalised, but the association aims to showcase its staff and community, celebrate its legacy and look forward to a bright future in Partick.
The association hopes these events, activities and initiatives strengthen its community ties and highlight what it does best. More details about all its 50th Anniversary plans throughout the year will feature in a special edition supplement included with its summer newsletter, The Partick Times, due out mid-June 2025, reflecting on the past but focusing firmly on the future.

We aim to use our 50th Anniversary as a chance to celebrate the positives. We want to create more opportunities for tenants, support our partners, and showcase the outstanding work that PHA and other social landlords do in their communities every day.”
