In early 2025, ARK Consultancy was appointed by the charity Housing Justice to carry out a scoping study into the possibility of replicating, in Scotland, Housing Justice’s successful Faith in Affordable Housing (FiAH) project in England and Wales.
In England and Wales, FiAH worked with churches of all denominations to release surplus land and redundant church buildings for the development of new affordable housing. It is hoped that a similar model could be adopted in Scotland where there are already several examples of successful partnerships between churches and housing providers, for example, the recent refurbishment of St Kentigern's Church on the Union Canal in Edinburgh, as affordable housing for LAR Housing Trust.
Kirsty Wells, Assistant Director and Wendy Farmer, Associate Consultant with ARK Consultancy are leading this project and would appreciate your time to complete this short survey to inform their understanding of LA and RSL experiences in Scotland of working with faith organisations, the successes and the challenges and the need for any potential intervention which may increase the supply of social and affordable housing more effectively.
Please complete and submit by Friday 7th November 2025. Thank you for your time.
