Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) has been supporting local community groups through its Community Action Fund by giving donations of up to £500 to registered charities to help them work within their communities and bring their ideas to life.
During 2024/25, ACHA assisted 38 community projects across Argyll and Bute with £18,692 of donations from the Community Action Fund.
One of the groups benefitting from the scheme was the 1st Argyll (Lorn) Scout Group who received an award of £500 to purchase high-vis vests which have the Scout group’s logo on the back. Having the high-viz vests means that the Scout Group (which includes Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) can go out and about safely on adventures during the darker winter nights. Additionally, the vests also ensure that the young people are easily identifiable as Scouts when they are out in the community.
Another charity which benefitted from funding from the Community Action Fund was the Snowdrop Centre in Lochgilphead. The group received £500 to purchase art materials to use for creative and therapeutic art activities, which are part of wellbeing sessions run by the Snowdrop Centre. One of the first groups to use the materials was the ‘Connecting and Crafting' group which decorated the Centre’s window beautifully using an Easter theme.
