Meet Eddie Boyd: SFHA's new Public Affairs Co-ordinator

Posted Thursday 12th February by Rachel Carter

Eddie Boyd joined the SFHA team this week to help bolster our advocacy work ahead of the elections.

Eddie Boyd

I come from a communications and public relations background, with experience across campaigns communications, crisis comms, and media relations. Most recently, I worked as Communications Officer at a Scottish youth charity, which heavily involved engagement with MSPs and councillors on policy areas affecting children, young people and families.

Prior to this, I spent over four years at a Glasgow based PR agency, working on housing, legal, and healthcare. I worked across a number of housing clients, such as developers, contractors, and retrofit specialists, several who worked almost exclusively with Housing Associations. This work gave me an insight into the HA model, the complexity to overlapping policy, funding and operational pressures housing associations face, as well as the vital role they play in supporting tenants and communities.

Though Ireland is still home in many ways, I’ve been in Scotland for over a decade, and Glasgow for over five years, with many more on the horizon.

I have long been interested in Scotland’s housing history, from the 1924 Housing Act, to the community-led housing associations that emerged in the 70s and 80s, and how that legacy continues to shape the city and country’s housing landscape today.

In my role at SFHA, I will support political engagement and public affairs activity on behalf of our members, particularly in the lead-up to the 2026 Scottish Parliament election. I am looking forward to getting out and meeting members and stakeholders across the country, and I would welcome your insight and guidance to ensure I represent those priorities and challenges as effectively as possible.
