The Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) has been awarded the Diversity Network Accreditation Award by the Housing Diversity Network (HDN), recognising its strong leadership, culture, and practice in promoting equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the organisation and its membership base.
The accreditation celebrates organisations that demonstrate excellence in embedding EDI principles into governance, recruitment, staff development, and engagement with members. The assessment highlighted the SFHA’s commitment to creating an inclusive environment where staff, members and partners feel valued, respected, and able to thrive.
Gillian, Duddy, Membership and Funding Manager, SFHA said: “We’re truly committed to making EDI a reality across SFHA and this doesn’t stop with accreditation – there will always be work to do and now we’re more prepared than ever to keep making progress.”
SFHA was commended for its drive to continuously improve and develop it’s EDI practices across the organisation, and for its ongoing commitment to enhance diversity at a leadership level. Member comments obtained during the assessment particularly praised SFHA’s responsiveness to EDI issues and the resources it provides - which, along with the revival of its members' EDI group in partnership with HDN, helps to position the organisation as a key voice in shaping inclusive housing policy across Scotland.
“The SFHA has shown a real dedication to making equality and diversity part of everyday practice, not just policy. This award recognises a genuine commitment to inclusion that others in the Scottish housing sector can learn from,” said Mushtaq Khan, Chief Executive of HDN.
Receiving the Diversity Accreditation marks an important milestone in SFHA’s continuing journey to build a culture that values difference and ensures fairness for all.”
